Algebra Explore

AlgebraXplore is an interactive math book designed to support algebra learning through the integration of local wisdom and the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. The project transforms abstract algebraic concepts into meaningful learning experiences by connecting mathematics with students’ cultural and everyday contexts.

Connecting Algebra Learning with Local Wisdom Through Realistic Contexts

AlgebraXplore was developed to help students understand algebra concepts through learning experiences that are more relevant to their daily lives and cultural environment. Guided by the principles of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME), the learning content presents algebraic ideas through contextual situations derived from local wisdom, allowing students to construct mathematical understanding from meaningful real-world experiences. The interactive math book was designed in Canva and implemented using H5P to create a digital learning resource enriched with interactive questions, guided exploration activities, immediate feedback features, and engaging learning interactions. These elements were carefully integrated to encourage active participation and support deeper conceptual understanding throughout the learning process.

Designing Meaningful Interactivity Without Losing Mathematical Focus

One of the key challenges during development was ensuring that the integration of local wisdom and interactive features genuinely supported learning objectives rather than serving as decorative elements. Creating realistic contexts that aligned with algebra concepts required careful content selection and instructional planning. Another challenge involved designing interactive activities that could promote student engagement while maintaining a clear learning pathway. Balancing educational value, usability, and visual presentation demanded multiple revisions to ensure that every component contributed effectively to students’ mathematical understanding.

Enhancing Algebra Understanding Through Contextual and Interactive Learning

AlgebraXplore demonstrates how local cultural contexts and digital interactivity can be combined to create more meaningful mathematics learning experiences. By applying the RME approach within an interactive learning environment, the project encourages students to explore algebra concepts through realistic situations, active participation, and guided discovery. The development process strengthened competencies in instructional design, digital content development, interactive learning design, and the implementation of culturally relevant educational technologies.
